First thing I noticed? He sounded… well, like himself. Not like those super polished commentators who sound like they swallowed a textbook. He was just talking, like you might talk with a buddy watching the game.

- Sometimes he was funny, other times maybe a bit awkward. It wasn’t smooth, not always.
- He definitely wasn’t afraid to disagree with the other commentators. That was kind of refreshing.
I spent a good hour or so just focusing on his commentary, trying to get a feel for it. He didn’t use fancy words. It was all pretty straightforward. He talked about the pressure, the mental games, things maybe the usual guys don’t emphasize as much, or at least not in the same raw way.
Did he know every single stat off the top of his head? Probably not. Was his delivery perfect? Nope. But it felt different. Less formal, more real, maybe? You got the sense he was genuinely reacting to the match in front of him, not just reciting prepared lines.
So, after switching off, what did I think? It wasn’t bad. Actually, parts of it were pretty good. It’s not the standard commentary, that’s for sure. It breaks the mold. For me, it was interesting to hear that different perspective, directly from someone still deep in the game. Whether it’s for everyone, I don’t know.
