Alright, so Split 2 of the 2023 season just wrapped up. Man, time flies. I remember seeing the little countdown in the client getting lower and lower each day. Started feeling that familiar end-of-split itch, you know?
Getting Started with the Grind
First thing I did was check my rank. Hovered right around Silver 1 for a while. Wasn’t super ambitious this split, but thought, hey, maybe I can push for Gold if I buckle down. Told myself I’d just play a few games each night, see how it goes. Didn’t want to burn myself out like last time.
The Actual Playing Part
So, I started queueing up more seriously. Mostly played support, sometimes filled jungle if I had to. The games themselves? A real mixed bag.
- Some matches were intense, everyone trying their best, coordinating plays. Felt good, even the losses weren’t too bad then.
- Other games… well, you know how it is. People arguing in chat by minute 3, someone deciding to AFK farm bot while the enemy takes Baron. Frustrating stuff.
- Tried duoing with a buddy for a bit. That helped sometimes, at least had someone reliable. We won a few, lost a few. Standard League experience, really.
I wasn’t strictly tracking stats or anything fancy. Just played, focused on my own game mostly, tried not to tilt too hard. Watched my LP go up, then down, then up again. The usual rollercoaster.
The Final Days
The last weekend hit. That’s when you really feel the pressure. Everyone seemed to be playing. Queue times were instant. I decided to just spam games. Didn’t care too much about strategy, just played comfort picks. Leona, Nautilus, stuff like that. Easy to execute.
Got into Gold promos! Lost the first game, nerves started kicking in. Won the second. Then lost the third. Ugh. Had to win the next two. Really focused, muted chat preemptively in one game just to avoid distractions. Managed to clutch out the wins. Felt pretty damn good hitting Gold IV right before the deadline.
Split End and What Now
Logged in the day after the split ended. Saw the rank was locked in. Got that little notification about rewards being distributed soon – looking forward to that Victorious Anivia skin, even though I don’t play her much. It’s the principle!
Now it’s that quiet period before the next season really kicks off. Rank is reset, placements are waiting. Probably take a small break, play some ARAMs, wait to see what big changes Riot throws at us next. Overall, a pretty standard end-of-split experience. Made my goal, didn’t lose my mind doing it. Success, I guess?
