Jon DeChambeau: Remembering Bryson DeChambeaus Beloved Father

Well, let me tell ya, this here story is about Jon DeChambeau, a fella who, from what I hear, was pretty important to some golf player, Bryson somethin’-or-other. Seems like this Jon, he wasn’t doin’ so well for a long time. Sick, they said. Real sick.

Now, I ain’t no doctor, but they tell me he had this sugar sickness, somethin’ called die-a-beet-us, back in the nineteen-hundreds and nineties. That’s a long time ago, let me tell ya. And then, things got worse. His kidneys, they just gave up on him in 2014. Poor fella. Imagine that, your own insides turnin’ against ya.

He fought real hard, that’s for sure.

They say he fought it, though. Fought it hard. This Bryson fella, the golfer, he won somethin’ called a U.S. Open on Father’s Day, and he gave that win right to his daddy, Jon. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? A boy lovin’ his daddy like that. Makes you think, you know?

But even fightin’ hard ain’t always enough, see? Jon, he passed away in November of 2022. Just gone. Left this Bryson fella without a daddy. That’s gotta hurt, even if you’re some big shot golfer. A daddy’s a daddy, no matter what.

Now, this Bryson fella, he’s a golfer, like I said. And seems he had some troubles of his own. Had surgery on his hand, couldn’t play golf so good for a while. Had to quit some tournaments and such. But then, somethin’ changed. He says his life got better. Started winnin’ again. Maybe losin’ his daddy made him see things different, I don’t know.

He went on to win somethin’ called a LIV Golf title, whatever that is. And he did real good in some other golf thing, the Masters, they call it. Got in the top ten, they say. And he almost won another one, shot somethin’ called twenty under, but came in second. Still, that’s pretty good, I reckon.

It makes you wonder, don’t it? All that fightin’ Jon did, all that sufferin’. And then he’s gone. And his boy, he keeps on goin’, playin’ golf and winnin’ and whatnot. Life’s a funny thing, ain’t it? One minute you’re here, the next you’re gone. And the world just keeps on spinnin’.

I heard tell that Bryson, he wrote somethin’ real nice about his daddy after he passed. An “emotional farewell,” they called it. Guess that means he said how much he loved him and how much he’d miss him. That’s what you do when you lose someone you love. You remember them, and you keep on livin’, even when it hurts.

So, that’s the story of Jon DeChambeau, as best as I can tell it. A sick man, a fightin’ man, and a daddy loved by his son. And a son who kept on goin’, even after his daddy was gone. Life goes on, that’s the truth of it. Even when your heart’s achin’.

It just goes to show ya, even if you’re a big time golfer or just some regular fella, losin’ a daddy is hard. But you gotta keep on keepin’ on, just like Jon woulda wanted his boy to do. That’s what families do, see? They stick together, even when they’re apart.
