Okay, so the US Open 2023 rolled around, and I always like to keep tabs on some of the veteran players. Azarenka is usually one I check in on.

Getting Started: Checking the Draw
First thing I did was pull up the women’s draw when it came out. Just wanted to see who she landed near, potential matchups down the line. You know, just scope things out. Saw her name there, seeded 18th I think. Noticed she had Fiona Ferro first up.
Following the Early Rounds
So, the tournament starts. I didn’t catch the full first match live, schedules are tough sometimes. But I made sure to check the scores pretty regularly on my phone app. Saw she got through Ferro pretty comfortably, straight sets. Good start, I thought. Solid, professional win.
- Checked score updates during her first match.
- Noted the straight-sets win.
- Felt it was a decent beginning to her campaign.
The Next Match: Keeping Track
Next up was Zhu Lin. I remembered Zhu had some good matches earlier in the year, so I figured this might be tricky. Again, couldn’t watch it live beginning to end. I was mostly following the live text commentary and score changes. It looked like a real battle, very tight.
I saw the score update showing Zhu Lin took it. Honestly, a bit of a downer. Expected Vika might push through that one, maybe make the second week.
Wrapping Up My Observations
So, her run ended there in the second round. A bit earlier than I might have guessed. You see these experienced players, you always kind of expect them to navigate the early rounds, you know? But draws can be tough, opponents can play lights out on any given day. That’s just how it goes in tennis.

My whole process was pretty simple:
- Check the draw initially.
- Follow scores and maybe highlights for the first match.
- Keep closer track of the score for the second match.
- React to the final result.
It wasn’t some deep analysis, just me, following along with a player I find interesting during a big tournament. That was my Azarenka US Open 2023 experience, basically keeping tabs from my couch.
